New Toy
A little more than a month ago, I finished filling out the paperwork to purchase a rifle from the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
(Said program is a nearly-century-old effort to promote marksmanship among the non-military population of the United States. Membership in an approved club is required, as is the passing of a basic marksmanship course...but I digress.)
This week, the rifle arrived. (Much earlier than I had expected.) Pictures inside the "More" link.
It came complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The rifle was originally manufactured at Springfield Armory.
[UPDATE: according to this site, the rifle was originally manufactured in 1943.]

Now, I'll have to find some .30-06 (probably Mil-Surplus) to test it with.
